Photography Tips 101: Rule of Thirds

Some of you may be looking for ways to capture better shots to make your photo books more awesome.

One of the first things that budding digital photographers usually learn in photography classes is the Rule of Thirds. It’s a simple rule that helps shutterbugs create more beautiful photos.

The base of the Rule of Thirds is to think of a photo divided evenly into thirds.

Rules of Third

When viewing an image, the dotted points are the places on an image where a person’s eyes are naturally drawn to. In theory, the most eye-catching points are where the grid lines intersect.

However, there can be times where you may want to break this rule (the link to third article below will tell you when and why).

Here some videos and articles with photo examples that can help you apply the Rule of Thirds.

Happy photographing!
